Missing a "Utilities" class library reference in BIDS 2008

Mar 22, 2009 at 2:08 AM

I was trying to compile the source code with BIDS 2008, and I run into the following error:

Error 1 [rsErrorLoadingCodeModule] Error while loading code module: ‘Utilities, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=81e0fe7aaaf3a0a5’. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Utilities, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=81e0fe7aaaf3a0a5' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. E:\Software\Sample Databases\VSTSCustomReportingSource\LoadTestReports\CountersAcrossTime.rdl 0 0

The Utilities library is referenced in several reports--CountersAcrossTime.rdl, OverlayCountersAcrossLoad_RampUp.rdl, and OverlayCountersAcrossTime.rdl.

Is there a way to add the reference so the project will compile in BIDS 2008?  Where can I find the right Utilities DLL or resource?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

You can copy the dll to the location that the reporting design time environment can reference it.  Copy the Utilities.dll to the following location:
<Visual Studio Install Dir>\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies
Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks,
